Spring Training - Florida

Posted on 5th March 2009 by John in Sports talk

Well, here we are down in Florida where the weather is a cool 54 degrees, but who cares about temperatures when there’s Spring Training. In cities such as Lakeland, Clearwater, St. Pete, Tampa, Dunedin, Sarasota the boys of summer are getting ready for the 2009 season.
This is one of the best rituals of spring, where people get to see some of their favorite teams and players tune themselves up for the forthcoming grind of (162) games. This is also a time when media writers and fans pay close attention, waiting for off season moves or just hoping their favorite player resumes where he left off last year.
We still don’t know where the roads are leading us tomorrow, but for tonight we’re relaxing in our hotel room after covering nearly (300) miles of Florida roads today.
We finally got our (virtual) Matt Treanor bobblehead. Check it out.
Chip and I are trying to decide whether we should push for our mugs to be on a Sportstalk “60″ bobblehead or a dart board. How about helping us to decide.

  2. I think it is a great idea for the SportsTalk collector to have a chance to get both. I just cant believe they would be able to make a John Bobblehead and fit that nose without messing up the way it bobbles!! And who wouldn’t want to throw a dart at Chip?

  3. The nose feature on the John Bobblehead would be a “tip over” feature. It would allow the bobblehead to remain upright in an extreme case of 80 mph winds and tsunami type conditions. P.S. I already bought 3 new darts in case the dartboard feature flies.
