Corey Smith
Everyone here at Sports Talk “60″ would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the families affected in the tragedy involving Detroit lion Corey Smith, NFL player Marquis Cooper and Will Bleakley.
Covering the lions, Chip and I get a chance to talk to these guys at camp and practice, and it hurts when something like this happens. Let’s hope that a miracle occurs and they are found.
Our prayers also are sent to Nick Schuyler in hopes of a full recovery. Please keep them all in your thoughts.

yes sad stuff.

At times you, and chip are the envy of alot of guys, meeting sport celebreties, and going to alot of sporting events…But it’s times like these when the two of you realize that these guys are just like everybody else….My prayers are also with their families…God Speed….

its sad. Did you see where Mike Vilente from 97.1 said some off the wall comment and jokes about the ordeal. The Lions President said that it was wrong to do so. Sometimes those guys over there think they to good for everyone. When you call in thre they cut you off. oh well.

Hey Mark, thanks for the post. Well Mr. Vilante did apologize for what he said on the air regarding this incident. I think what he said were actually texts to the show from listeners. Chip and Myself have on the occassion to see and talk to these guys at events and are friends with a few of them. (Tony Ortiz and Jeff Riger are always a class act around us) These guys at 97.1 do truly have a love for Detroit sports and its teams. It may have been in bad taste but once again our sport media people report on this stuff and they mean no disrespect. This tragedy affects certain media people more than some depending on who covers what. The guys at 97.1 and other sport radio stations are sad at the tragedy… We support his apology and know they (97.1 crew) will continue to entertain their listeners and bring the best they can to the world of sports radio here in Detroit. Let’s give em a break. Thanks for posting and keeping us on your dial.
