Last night Chip and I covered the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Plymouth Whalers as they defeated the Sarnia Sting 5-3 at the Compuware arena.
Sportstalk 60 even purchased a foam puck for the “Chuck-a-Puck” event during the second intermission. (more…)
I saw a Robin today…Yes, I did. Somehow this bird made an appearance in the middle of January.
Also, it was Tigerfest today at Comerica Park and all week the Detroit Tigers have been doing the winter Caravan.
With Spring training less than three weeks away, could it be that this Robin got the jump on everyone and flew North in anticipation of the 2009 baseball season? (more…)
The Detroit Ignition took first place by trouncing the Milwaukee Wave 24-14 on Sunday. The night also included a reunion of the Detroit Rockers Soccer team that played in the NPSL from 1990 until 2001 when the league folded.
Being part of that organization in the early 90’s, I got to see the championship season of 1991/92. Last night, some eight years after the Rockers played their last game, the players were honored at halftime by the Ignition and their fans.

It was a great victory last night for the Wings, over Dallas. But, I found myself enthralled with a special 3rd period interview.
I left the press box in the second period and took a seat in the crowd (thanks Tony). Next to me was a young man from Windsor named Aidan (age 5) whose father was a friend of Dallas player Steve Ott.
I struck up a conversation as the Wings were putting this game out of reach. Aidan was rooting for Dallas, but was originally a fan of the Toronto Maple leafs.
